Policy Makers
To what extent is WorkAble of interest to policy makers?
-
WorkAble targets questions like: What forms of public action are available to overcome the restrictions young people are subjected to (on the labour markets, on the way to live their lives they have reason to value, on the way to voice, choice and autonomy)? How can public policy overcome inequalities in capabilities?
-
WorkAble will assess how far the various employability policies actually do take up the current challenges, i.e. to what extent a) developing training policies results in creating a new virtuous circle ending up in more economic prosperity and more social justice; b) more flexibility on the labour market makes it possible to also promote security for both workers and job-seekers; c) employability is negotiated between all the partners involved.
-
WorkAble will systematically include local and (inter)national labour-market trends in its analysis of skill needs. The resulting combination of systemic and individual causes along with the consequences of unemployment can provide new insights into possible ways forward in making public policy effective for the economy as well as citizens.
-
Workable will formulate recommendations for stakeholders, politicians and various sectors of civil society with respect to closing the capability gap and enhancing young peoples’ opportunities.
